Saint Hubert, to whom the church near the tripoint of three countries is dedicated, lived from 655 to 727 and is a very popular saint, known across borders, especially as the patron saint of hunters. A stag with a shining cross between its antlers is said to have appeared to him, an image often depicted in portraits of Hubert. This legend was originally attributed to Saint Eustace and over time was transferred to Hubert. His feast day in the liturgical calendar is November 3rd.

Beusdael Castle is a medieval castle located in the village of Sippenaeken, just across the Belgian border from the Dutch province of Limburg. The castle dates back to the 13th century and features a characteristic round keep (defense tower). It has been renovated several times over the centuries, but still retains much of its historic charm. The castle is privately owned and not open to the public.
