On October 12, 1930, the memorial for the fallen of the First World War was dedicated. On that day, no one could have imagined that 28 years later, on October 12, 1958, the expanded memorial for the military and civilian victims of the Second World War would be dedicated. The memorial grove is located next to Schützenhofallee, outside of Quakenbrück. The nameplates originally displayed only first and last names. Further information was compiled in the publication "Honorable Remembrance – To the Victims of the City of Quakenbrück as a Result of the World Wars," published by the Association for the Preservation of the Memorial Site.
