For fans of the BBC comedy, Framlingham was the filming location for many scenes, including Lance’s flat. Mags’ shop is in the Market square and the pub is the Castle Inn.

Set amidst expansive parkland and a charming lake, Framlingham Castle has witnessed fascinating periods of history. The castle is managed by English Heritage and is well worth a visit. Even if you don't stop by, you can admire the views from the roadside – it's a very impressive sight!

The beautiful walk to Hazelwood Marshes and bird hide managed by Suffolk wildlife Trust is well worth a short detour

Tunstall Forest is a managed woodland with a mixture of coniferous plantations, broadleaved belts and heathland. It's managed by Forestry England.

A spectacular place which sums up everything you might imagine about an English castle. It was built in the 12th century and was where Mary Tudor was proclaimed the Queen of England. It is in the care of English Heritage and you can wonder at the amazing views from the outside for free or pay to go inside. Managed by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust, locals say the view across Framlingham Mere to the castle is the best non coastal view in Suffolk. It is a glorious place for an easy hike.

This building was once a ruined dovecote but has been given a new lease of life as a studio. The old brickwork remains outside while the interior steel shell was slotted into place by a crane.

There's always something charming about seeing pigs mucking about and you can certainly get a good look here. This sprawling pig farm runs right along the footpath here with nothing to obscure your view.

The Alde-Ore Estuary is a vast river mouth and Site of Special Scientific Interest. It's home to two nature reserves and plenty of habitats ranging from marshes and wetlands to saltings and mudflats. If you're a keen birder, bring your binoculars along because rare species can often be spotted here.

Don't get lost its really easy to get turned around. Make sure you have the appropriate tyres too some of the trails are made up with flint

You can’t go into or around the castle with road bikes but you can go as far as the entrance with its impressive walls.

Nothing too special but the location is convenient and there’s a handy outdoor table area.

Lovely bit of fast riding ending in a downhill to the road crossing

Boasting broadleaved belts, coniferous plantations and regions of heathland that connect Tunstall and Blaxhall Common, Tunstall Forest is a lovely place to explore. The Sandlings Walk long-distance trail passes through the forest, featuring the nightjar on its waymarkers. The forest is a particularly good place to spot this emblematic, ground nesting species.

A very pleasant stretch of road with possibly the best view of the castle.

Its worth taking a detour on to New Road when heading into Framingham just to get the view of the castle across the lake.

The original Norman Framlingham Castle, built in 1148, was destroyed by Henry II in 1148. The castle you see today was constructed shortly afterwards. From the 13th century, the castle became a luxury home before falling into disrepair at the end of the 16th century. For 200 years, the castle was owned by Pembroke Collage of the University of Cambridge, before becoming a drill hall and county court. During WWII, the castle was used by the military in case of a potential invasion. Today, you can visit the magnificent Grade-I listed castle which is run by English Heritage.
