Enjoy a gorgeous scene of the River Fynn meeting the Martlesham Creek before it flows into the River Deben. The wetland area is part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is a haven for birdlife, especially migratory waders and waterfowl.

On the Debden Estuary, Kyson Point is a quiet spot and you may find yourself the only person out exploring. Climb up nearby Kyson Hill for even better views of the beautiful surroundings. Please check tide times before visiting as it can become impassable at high tide.

On the River Debden, Woodbridge makes a beautiful location for a run. It is best known as being the home of Sutton Hoo, the burial site of an Anglo-Saxon King. He was interred in a ship surrounded by his most valuable possessions.

The Ship’s Company was formed in 2016 with the sole purpose of creating a permanent and authentic replica of the Anglo-Saxon ship. The team is made up of professionals, volunteers and enthusiasts who are working together to fully understand the dimensions and construction methods. The ship will be built in the newly opened, Longshed, a purpose-built unit gifted to the town and dedicated to the maritime history and education.

A great base for exploring the Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB, Woodbridge is a historic town on the River Deben. There are plenty of places to eat and drink, as well as several accommodation options. The town is well known for Sutton Hoo, home to one of Britain's most important archaeological discoveries: the ship burial of an Anglo-Saxon king and his most valuable possessions.

Kyson Point is a lovely spot on the Deben Estuary, where you can find serene walking with only the sounds of birds and the wind for company. A short walk away is the National Trust-owned Kyson Hill, which rewards with fine views of the estuary. Ensure you're aware of tide times, as Kyson Point can be impassable during high tides.

The River Deben flows 34 miles (54 km) through the heart of Suffolk from Bedingfield to the North Sea. The river has played an important role in the region's history, powering mills.
