Tatton Mere Lake is a special place situated on the northern edge of Knutsford in Cheshire. The lake is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and RAMSAR site and it dates back to the glacial period of the last ice age! The lake is surrounded by beautiful open grassland that features plenty of wildlife, including deer, sheep, and ducks, and many picnic spots where you can take a seat to enjoy the scenery.

Tatton Park is always a great place to be.

Pedley Brook is part of the waterway which runs from Knutsford to Alderley Park.

A 13th century church which is recorded in the National Heritage List for England, as a designated Grade I listed building. An active Anglican Parish church. The Church is open for worship every Sunday at 8.30am, 10.00am and 6.30 pm.

Tatton Hall was built in 1716 with improvements made in the early 1800s and again in the late 1800s. The centrepiece of Tatton Park, the house is owned by the National Trust but looked after and managed by Cheshire County Council.

Deer roam around, seem very friendly and not startled at all by calm dogs.

Melchett Mere is the smaller of the two lakes at Tatton Park, still equally as lovely though. The lake is a dedicated Site of Special Scientific Interest and RAMSAR site and is recognised as a nationally important habitat, providing refuge for many waterbirds and displaying an abundance of wildflowers and scarce plant life.

Enjoy delicious cakes and coffee in a large seating area in the courtyard of The Stables. This is a great place to fuel up before your delightful walk around Tatton Park.

The grand estate at Tatton Park boasts a neo-classical mansion, 50 acres of landscaped gardens, 1,000 acres of ancient deer park, a medieval Old Hall and even a rare breed farm. A fun day out to visit - or just take in the views as you cycle by. Looked after by the National Trust, tickets are required for all entries including NT members.

Great ride through Tatton Park. Often lots of deer to be seen, particularly in the early mornings before the crowds arrive. Watch out at weekends when there a lot of cars, walkers, prams, other cyclists and dogs around.

Look out for the deer! Also some fun trails around the perimeter to look for if your on your CX bike.

Best not to get too close!

Entrance to the park in a vehicle costs around £7 or you can buy monthly, quarterly or annual passes. Toilets and cafe etc are well located but worth throwing wellies in as some of the areas are really muddy!
