Southwold Harbour sits on the River Blythe with a path running along both sides of the water which forms part of the Suffolk Coast Path. There is a ferry connecting Southwold and Walberswick in the summer months and the Harbour Inn is a great place to stop for a bite to eat or a drink if you are finishing your run nearby.

An often overlooked area, Southwold Harbour lies south of the town on the River Blyth. It is populated with quirky fisherman’s huts and offers simple outdoor dining.

St Andrews is a partially ruined church by the sea in the hamlet of Covehithe. An Anglican church, its ruins are grand and well worth seeking out – it mostly dates from the 15th century although there are older sections. In the 17th century, a smaller, cheaper-to-maintain church was built against the original tower, and this church is still in use today.

This area becomes incredibly busy in the summer months with cars and vans double parked along the road in so be aware if you fancied driving then hiking or riding

If you walk through the main gate and keep going to the cliff you'll discover the last remaining grave from the friary Church that has long since gone.

Remains of a medieval church, partially demolished as the village shrank and replaced by a smaller thatched structure built within the ruins and attached to the original tower. Very unusual.

Possibly the nicest stretch of the Sandling Way/Suffolk Coast Path

The remaining walls and gateway entrances of a medieval friary - its existence first threatened by coastal erosion, then by Henry VIII. Not a lot left but a few scenic ruins.

This is a lovely spot on the River Blythe just to the south of the town of Southwold. There's plenty to do: it's possible to catch a ferry across to neighbouring Walberswick, while the harbour is also popular for crabbing. The Harbour Inn serves fresh seafood, while there's also a French restaurant and a chippy.

Great spot to stop for some fish and chips. Very busy location in the summer.

Blackshore can get really busy in the summer so be prepared to hike a bike for safety's sake. Also its known to flood especially on spring tides so be aware. Bikes aren't salt water friendly.

The chapel is off the main minsmere RSPB site and is actually on the footpath to Eastbridge from the sluice.

There is plenty of parking along the road - just remember to pull enough off the road to allow tractors to get down the road. The church is worth a walk around to explore the old ruins
