Anyone who goes through the imposing red brick portal with old sandstone sculptures enters a special place. The old lodging house, the stables, the distillery, the granary, tall old trees on the lake shore. It's a place full of atmosphere and spirit.

Around the year 1800, the district administrator at the time, Peter Alexander von Itzenplitz, had a mansion built above the Great Behnitz Lake. In 1866, after persistent mismanagement and high levels of debt, the property passed to the Borsig family.

Bollmannsruh is located on the northwestern shore of the northernmost lake basin of the glacial Rinnensee Beetzsee. The village is located about one and a half kilometers west of the district of Bagow and two and a half kilometers west of the village Päwesin. In the 19th century existed around the Beetzsee a variety of brickworks, in which clay tiles were burned mainly for Berlin. Around the year 1875, such a brickyard was also built at the place later named in Bollmannsruh. According to a story, in 1927 several hunters met in the old canteen of the brickyard. They named the spots in Bollmannsruh after Fritze Bollmann, a barber from Brandenburg on the Havel who died in 1901, who was involuntarily declared to be the original Brandenburger and who is said to have drowned in the Beetzsee. This is considered the founding date. After the end of brick production emerged in the late 1920s on the grounds of a popular tourist restaurant, which was accessible by excursion steamers from Brandenburg and the Bollmannsruh Obstgut. After the Second World War, a summer camp was built in Bollmannsruh. Bollmannsruh is a touristy place. So are located in the village of a hotel, the former summer camp, which has been transformed into a children and youth education center with café, event and accommodation facilities, a sailing school, a beach and other leisure activities. If you are in the mood for an idyllic stop at the lake with a little history lesson, you should set out to search for traces at Lake Behnitzer. Around it leads a more than 50-year-old nature trail, which even then should show people what crawls, flies and grows here. Just watching the animals here is great. But also the partly overgrown path and here and there the rotten tables and benches from bygone days have their charm.
