The Hotel Sonnenberg was owned by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Transcendental Meditation movement since 1972 and was purchased by the Swiss family business Halter in 2025 for comprehensive renovation. The site, at an elevation of 800 meters and 400 meters above the Rütli meadow, the birthplace of the Swiss Confederation on Lake Lucerne, is unparalleled in the world.

Now in autumn, fishermen are here all day long. Enough space for everyone! Cycle path along the lake, lots of lovely places to stop. Here too, a small peninsula, some places to sit where you can stop even when the temperature is colder.

You definitely have to push or carry it. Don't underestimate it on rainy days. But it's still "well" prepared. You can reach it from Stoos by e-bike in a 7.5km climb. The single trail up to there is a real challenge. There is a path underneath that you can use. Make sure you decide beforehand, it's almost impossible to turn around on the single trail. At the end you have to climb more to get to the pass. All in all, it's worth it!!!

A bit tricky with a gravel bike in the rain, hardly recommended. Even when it's dry, only for experienced gravel riders, 45+ - i.e. tire width ;)
