The tower, which is now 30 metres high, was part of the Calauer Gate, which faces the town of Calau. The tower was built at the end of the 13th and beginning of the 14th centuries and was raised several times over the years. Its current French dome was built in 1871. On June 4, 1813, allied Prussian and Russian troops defeated French occupying troops on the grounds in front of the tower, preventing their advance on Berlin. A commemorative plaque on the tower commemorates this event.

From the observation tower at Borcheltsbusch you have a wonderful view over meadows and fields. We were able to observe numerous birds. A crane and a great egret were staring through the reeds, grey geese and lapwings were in the meadow. It was accompanied by the singing of nightingales and yellowhammers.

Postal Column at Luckau Info from the board: "Technical monument Electoral Saxon distance column (gate column), made in Dresden in 1736 and erected in front of the Sander Gate, probably lost in the early 19th century in the Battle of Luckau in 1813; after the original foundation was found in 2023, faithfully reproduced and rebuilt at the original location.” This postal column was unveiled during the celebration of 500 years of Noppern on June 24th - 25th, 2023.

One of the largest crane resting places in Germany is located adjacent to the scenic village of Gossmar. Houseman's towers are castle, palace or church towers in which there were watchman's rooms or apartments for the houseman or watchman who monitored the town or the area around the castle from above.
