Gortin is a pleasant town situated in the heart of the Sperrins in County Tyrone. The town is nearby to a number of wonderful walks including Gortin Glen Forest Park, Mullaghcarn & Craignamaddy. There are also a few pubs in the town, such as Mossey's Bar and O'Neills.

Brantry Lough is a fantastic fishing lake situated just north of Creevelough in County Tyrone. The waters provide a great supply of brown trout that's stocked all year around bringing keen fishermen and their boats to the shores

There is plenty to see in Castlederg for history lovers. On the pilgrim's route to Station Island on Lough Derg, it boasts monastic ruins as well as the impressive Castlederg Castle which is set in beautiful parklands accompanied by a sculpture trail.

Omagh is the county town of County Tyrone which plays host to a number of festivals and events throughout the year. A market town, there are plenty of places to stop to eat or drink and you can't fail to notice the twin spires of Sacred Heart Church.

In the graveyard are several interesting stones, probably the most noted one is known as the Bishops stone, this odd shaped stone has been altered and reused several times, originally thought to have been a carved figure similar to those on nearby White Island. Another stone with a lot of history is the large slab standing west of the bishops stone, one side of the stone bears at least twelve cup-shaped hollows, see image above right, which suggest this maybe a multiple bullaun stone/cup marked stone that has been reused as an early Christian cross slab, as on the obverse face is a Greek cross in a circle with a bifurcated stem. Situated south of the bullaun stone is a holed stone, as the image shows this stone is half embedded in the ground. Immediately to the West of the holed stone is a broken 1.2 metre high stone pillar. Nice little cafe at Benburb Priory. Well worth a stop if you are in the area.

Gortin Glen Forest Park is full of good trails and beautiful trees. There is a 5 mile scenic forest drive which is signposted and takes in all of the best views. With waterfalls, resident sika deer and a cafe at the centre of the park it makes an ideal detour from the road.
