Head South down the lane to find Necarne Castle. Also known as Castle Irvine, Necarne Castle was built in the 17th century as part of the plantation of Ulster. In 1831, Irish novelist and playwright John B. Keane designed the beautiful two-storey facade which gives the castle its Victorian image. The castle passed through the hands of various owners before being requisitioned by the United Stats army in 1941. It functioned as a military hospital during the Second World War before falling into ruin. Over the last decades, the castle was used by Enniskillen Agricultural College. However, it now stands empty once again and is up for sale. You can't visit the interior of the castle, but you can freely visit the lovely parklands and admire the building from afar.

Newtownstewart is a historic village with Baronscourt Castle as a notable attraction. Nestled in the scenic Sperrin Mountains, it offers outdoor activities like hiking and boasts a heritage-rich atmosphere with well-preserved architecture.

The road passes between Oak Lough and New Lough and it is an absolute joy. With water either side of you, surrounded by hills, forests and heathland its what bike riding is made for.

Gortin Glen Forest Park is full of good trails and beautiful trees. There is a 5 mile scenic forest drive which is signposted and takes in all of the best views. With waterfalls, resident sika deer and a cafe at the centre of the park it makes an ideal detour from the road.

Take a pew and enjoy the view over Lough Erne.

A hive of activity, the marina at Castle Archdale is full of things to do. Why not park your bike and pedal on water on one of the hydrobikes? Kayaks, paddleboards and boats are also available to hire. Or if you're looking for a break, this is a great place to stop and take it all in.

As you pedal along the bike path tracing the Camowen River, keep an eye out for the water rushing over the weir.

Newtownstewart Bridge spans the Strule River on its way north to meet Fairy Water and Owenkillew.
