Between the mountain villages of Rottau and Bernau, the hiking trails offer some of the most beautiful views in the Chiemgau Alps.

The Ache hiking trail offers hikers and nature lovers the opportunity to get to know the water and its surroundings better. Along the trail there are resting places with a view of the Ache as well as some areas where the water flows over cascades and rapids. Overall, the tour along the Bernauer Ache is a worthwhile excursion destination to discover the quiet beauty of the region around Lake Chiemsee.

The forest chapel on Hitzelsberg, In the winter of 1934/35, the Lourdes Grotto, consecrated on May 5, 1932, was destroyed. In October 1935, Mr. Anton Auer built a forest chapel over the grotto. He had praised it for work on the motorway. The bell, which cost 10 pounds, was delivered for 15 RM from Erding. Mrs. Grünwald and Mrs. Bauer took over the procurement of the chapel's traffic light. The consecration took place on church consecration Sunday 1935. Theresia Bauer looked after the chapel for around 30 years until 2002, then Hans Bauer and Mrs. Teschner for many years. In 2018, the old, dilapidated forest chapel was demolished and completely renovated by the Auer family in the name of Mrs. Aloisia Auer, who died on August 7, 2017. On Tuesday, October 1, 2019, Pastor Klaus Hofstetter ceremoniously inaugurated the new building. (The text comes from the plaque inside the chapel)
