Church Stretton is a beautiful market town set in the heart of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding beauty. It sits surrounded by hills in a spectacular setting and is the ideal base from which to explore the surrounding area. Be it walking, hiking or biking, Church Stretton has something for everyone. Bishops Castle is a beautiully quaint ancient hamlet come market town totally surrounded by the lush South Shropshire Hills. Being close to the Welsh border and not far from either Shrewsbury or Ludlow, it makes for a perfect base to explore this stunning little part of the UK. Don't forget to try some of the local ale from the Three Tuns Brewery.

The Long Mynd is a 7-mile long ridge of the Shropshire Hills, a place of heather-clad moorland and far-reaching views. Its highest point is Pole Bank at 516m.

Number 39 of Simon Warren's original top 100 climbs, The Burway is a must do in the Shropshire Hills. Nearly 2 miles long and avg 9%, you better have a good breakfast before taking this one on! But don' let the stats get you down, it's a stunning road with amazing panoramic views.

Lovely independent cafe and a great alternative to the cafe chains. Bike-friendly outdoor seating, good coffee and food choice. Open 9-4 Mon-Sat, closed Sun.

Minton Batch is truly fabulous, and usually deserted. I was once divebombed by a hawk there, I got too close to its nest. In wet weather the ground gets boggy so dress accordingly.

Wonderful classic Youth Hostal, one of the early ones from way back in the 1930. It has unique features, whilst the bedrooms have been updated the rest of the building is out of a timewarp, this is your Grandfathers Youth Hostel! And it's glorious.

Wonderful climb, tough but doable without walking with the right gearing, got up here in the pitch black and stopped for a coffee.

A nice relatively quiet main road in Church Stretton. Great views over the Shropshire Hills.

Nice place to grab a pint and something to eat if you are in the area. plenty of benches outside if the weather is favourable.

Probably best climb in Shropshire Hills, all cyclists will love it, steep and scenic.

Top up with a great tasting double espresso from The Loft before hitting #39 The Burway.

Proper old school cafe serving no-frills baguettes, bacon sandwiches, cakes, and tea & coffee. Always end up talking to a local and staying longer than I should!
