I agree with Natalie, the pub is definitely worth a visit. Great views from outdoor seating and a nice rest point

Shotley Point protrudes into the estuary of Harwich Harbour. The coast path around the marina is a wonderful place to walk with great views of the boats and harbour activity.

From this point you can access a beautiful sand and shingle riverside beach with gorgeous views across the water to Wrabness on the other side.

The Cliff Plantation is a beautiful woodland located on the banks of the River Orwell in Suffolk. A footpath runs right along the edge of the river, creating a picturesque scene as you pass through.

There are public benches overlooking the quay directly opposite the pub if you're looking for a place for a rest stop.

About 20m of the pier is now restored and open but that still leaves a lot left to do!

Completed in 1987, Alton Water is a hive of outdoor activity from watersports, cycling, walking, running, birdwatching and fishing. There is a cafe and toilets at the watersports centre plus camping if you would like to extend your visit.

Alton Water is a popular place for outdoor activity, but really exists as a water source for the people of Ipswich. The dam wall blocks the River Gripping and the water treatment works below the dam can treat up to 10 million imperial gallons of water a day!
