In 1409, Duke Ulrich von Teck and his wife Anna of Poland ordered a Gothic basilica to be built into the city walls and transferred the parish rights to the new church of St. Stephen. In 2007, another renovation of the external facade was carried out, in 2012-2013 the interior was renovated and the presbytery was rebuilt. The church is a hall building with a pilaster structure, 49 m long (nave 32 m and choir hall 17 m) with a set-back choir and a northern bell tower with a pointed dome.
