Beautiful Historical Church

picturesque village with an idyllic pub location!

This is a great off-road climb, steep in parts, and unlike some photos not at all wet in peak summer.

From reports and the previous pictures, I had avoided this section of the Roman Road (east of Hildersham Rd) in the rainy, cold months. It does look nicer and ride well enough in the summer, albeit bumpy due to tractor tracks.

Large beer garden with plenty of space for bikes so a really good option for a stop. Decent food as well.

Clare is a great village with nice bakeries and cafes, perfect for a mid-ride refuel. There’s a nice bench in the churchyard if you want to refuel alfresco.

This village is supposed to have various pubs and cafes to stop at. In fact on a sunny Saturday afternoon in May this was the only place open - so they should be on Komoot as a reliable stop.

A small market but enjoyed it anyways. Tried Moroccan food this time. Kind vendor.

Friendly local pub serving excellent Sunday Roasts. Large beer garden.

Cycle to the crossroads to the east of the village and look back. You get a good view.

Lovely location, great old buildings, independent cafe's, CO-OP for water etc.
