Nice coffee shop with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. A bit hidden away: the easiest approach is via the turning off the A1101 into the business park immediately after the village sign for Fornham All Saints when approaching from the north.

Open every day but closes for an hour at lunch and only a half day on Sundays.

The forest is lovely but the road is pretty busy and, being straight, the traffic is fast so not really the most relaxing route to ride.

Rare thatched roof, on a prominent rise overlooking the road. Now redundant but can still be visited.

Quintessential Suffolk: wide, rolling views, and pig farms. An avenue of trees has just been planted along the road so come back in a couple of decades to see the change.

Foodie pub with a large beer garden (tucked off through an arched gate to the right). Good bet for a lunch or refreshment stop.

Pretty rough and ready but one of the few convenience stores in the area. Closes between 2 and 3pm each day and at 1pm on Sundays.

Brandon Road is a tarmac surfaced road that runs through the heart of The King's Forest from North to South, intersected by numerous gravel tracks running East to West. The King's Forest covers 2333 hectares of Thetford Forest, and the majority is open access land. It was named to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of King George V and Queen Mary.

Grand and impressive almshouses that according to the sign were erected in 1811 “for the aged and deserving poor”. If it wasn’t for the sign you’d think it was a country mansion. They don’t make social housing like this anymore!

Had a tasty sausage roll and a huge hunk of bread pudding as a reward after the cycle from Cambridge.

A beautiful road surrounded by nature - best to see on a sunny day.
