Beyond the riverbanks, rolling green hills, vineyards, and dense forests offer varied terrain from gentle inclines to more challenging routes with significant elevation changes. This combination of riverside paths and hilly forested trails creates a rich environment…

The Tannenturm, built around 1450 from red sandstone, is one of the dominant urban building blocks of the historic city wall of the town of Wörth. It refers to the more than 700-year history of the old town. It is 17 meters high and its basic dimensions are on average 6.33 by 4.59 meters.

The Tannenturm fortified the northwest corner of the city. Its counterpart was the Hexenturm, which no longer exists today. This was originally called the Lindenturm and was later named after the three women who were housed there in 1604 and were accused of witchcraft. From 1738 onwards, the Tannenturm was used as a prison. The dungeon still exists today, but is not accessible. After being damaged in the Second World War, the Tannenturm was renovated by the city in 1957. The Tannenturm is a stop on the UNESCO cultural trail in Wörth, with a focus on shipbuilding and transport as well as the Roman period. The start of the small loop through the old town and the large loop through the cultural landscape around Wörth is 400 m away at the New Town Hall. Source: Information board at the site
