The History Systematic meadow irrigation to increase hay and forage yields has been documented in the Spessart since 1453 and was still widespread in the stream valleys until the mid-20th century. The first mention of dam irrigation on the Wöhrde can be found in a document from 1663. Source: Information board at the site

St. John's Church The small village church in the heart of Erlach is a small gem. A fresco uncovered during the renovation (1988-1993), depicting Herodia and Salome and the beheaded John, bears the date 1504 in one spot. The pottery shards discovered ten centimeters below the floor during the renovation were dated to 1250 or shortly thereafter. Albert Verbeek, a recognized expert on Romanesque architecture, dates the church to the Romanesque period (1020-1250). Special thanks go to Pastor Rudolf Langhans, who saved the church from demolition and initiated the renovation work. A 16th-century wall painting can be seen in St. John's Church in Erlach. Construction of the Catholic parish church of St. Michael was most likely begun before the 11th century. Over the centuries, partly due to population growth, it was rebuilt and expanded several times. The church is certainly worth seeing.

Dam with power plant on the Main. It's possible to walk from one bank to the other. On the left side of the river, there's a special rail for pushing bicycles instead of lifting them.
