The valley church is an idyllic spot. Large trees and the newly restored Crucifixion group and many benches to rest. The bike/hiking trail leads directly past. Had the opportunity to visit the interior of the church again for a long time yesterday. Beautiful altar and in the back thanksgiving dolls from the 17th and 18th centuries. A 🕯 for all concerns can also be lit. In May there was probably a bicycle service. There are still blessed stickers for the bike to take away.

The baroque pilgrimage church to the "Holy Cross", popularly known as the "Talkirche", was consecrated in 1716; the previous building was first mentioned around 1360. According to a legend, its construction goes back to the vows of two farmers. They are said to have been surprised by a violent storm while they were harvesting and found themselves in an extremely dangerous situation with their heavily laden vehicle. Frightened, they promised to build a chapel to Our Lady in the valley if they returned home safely with animals and wagon.

The Talkirche, sometimes also in the old spelling Thalkirche, is a baroque pilgrimage church in the Rannunger valley near Münnerstadt (Lower Franconia). It has different names: “Pilgrimage Church of the Holy Cross”, “Gnadenkapelle in the Rantung Valley” or “Rannung Valley Church”. Nowadays, the St. Mark's procession takes place every year around April 25th. It begins at St. Maria Magdalena Church and leads to the valley church. Halfway she stops at the High Cross and the nearby Kreuzschlepper. On the meadow next to the church there is a stone free altar, above which a larger-than-life Crucifixion group from 1941 rises. The work of the Munich sculptor Gottfried Albert shows the crucified Christ, Saint John, Mary, the mother of Jesus and the two thieves in an expressive style.

A very special place with a special charisma. You don't even have to be religious; you just have to get involved with it and you'll feel it!

In the middle of the forest, this beautiful place of pilgrimage appears out of nowhere.
