Fremington Quay, located along the Tarka Trail, offers stunning panoramic views of the River Taw. Once a bustling port handling goods from across the globe, it is now a perfect spot to begin your journey or take a well-deserved rest. The old railway line, originally built for transporting goods, now forms part of the scenic Tarka Trail.

Flat and easy to ride trail, we picked it up in Barnstaple and followed to Bideford. I am sure there are lovely views across the Estuary however we didn't get to enjoy them as there was a low sea mist the day we rode! Some nice little cafe stops along the way at old stations.

Best place in North Devon for bike selection and bike service . Helped me set up my new Wahoo Bike computer - nothing too much for these people. Taw Velo Cycle groups organised from here and an annual charity ride called the 'Smugglers ' which is a grand day with BBQ on finish line.

Lovely café. Seating in and outdoors. Places to leave bikes outdoors which is next to outdoor seating area. Generally a lock is recommended especially if sat upstairs. However there are a few places where bikes can be left directly outside in front of the café which can be seen when sat down stairs.

Great shop with a huge selection of bikes of all kinds and for all ages as well as clothes and accessories. Great cafe attached which serves a very good coffe. Friendly and helpful staff to boot, thoroughly recommended!

The Tarka trail along the river taw is a flat disused railway line running from Braunton on the north shore to Bideford on the Torridge, it then continues through Torrington and on to Meeth. Flat and steady, well-surfaced path for riding, running, walking etc.

270 feet (82 m) long and 22 feet (6.7 m) wide, the Beam Aqueduct is an impressive structure that carries the Rolle Canal over the River Torridge. The aqueduct, with its five stone arches, was completed in 1827. Since the closure of the canal, the aqueduct has been used as a bridge to Beam House Estate.

82 meters (270 feet) long and 6.7 meters (22 feet) wide, the Beam Aqueduct is an impressive structure that carries the Rolle Canal over the River Torridge. Flowing 48 miles (76 km) through the heart of Devon, the River Torridge forms a loop as it meanders from Meddon to the Bristol Channel. The river is known for its bridges and aqueducts. It was also made famous by Henry William's book 'Tarka the Otter', who called the river his home. Today, the river is home to many species of wildlife and fish, such as salmon, sea trout and brown trout.

Located on the banks of the River Taw along the Tarka Trail, Fremington Quay Cafe is a quaint place to re-fuel and take a pitstop. The cafe is built in an old station building and serves delicious cakes, full English breakfasts and hearty jacket potatoes. Fremington Quay has an interesting history: In the early 1800s, the Quay was a bustling port used to transport goods around the UK. Today, you can learn about its industrial history at the Heritage Centre. The cafe is open from 9am - 5pm daily, with breakfast served until 11am.
