Great cafe in a good cycling area, with loads of outside space for big groups.

Large flocks of starlings can be seen in late summer after riding under the bridge. The bridge offers great views along Bideford Quay and on the Torridge Bridge.

A quiet spot to take in the sights of the river Torridge saltmarshes, an ecosystem that supports many special plants and rare invertebrates. Be careful though, the wooden boards can be a bit slippery when wet.

The Tarka Trail takes in two loops of stunning Devonshire countryside from Barnstaple. Largely a walking route, Great Torrington lies on a 30 mile section where cycling is also permitted between Braunton and Meeth. It follows the path of a disused railway line so memories of its former life are ever present in the tunnels and viaducts that make the trail so interesting.

270 feet (82 m) long and 22 feet (6.7 m) wide, the Beam Aqueduct is an impressive structure that carries the Rolle Canal over the River Torridge. The aqueduct, with its five stone arches, was completed in 1827. Since the closure of the canal, the aqueduct has been used as a bridge to Beam House Estate.

82 meters (270 feet) long and 6.7 meters (22 feet) wide, the Beam Aqueduct is an impressive structure that carries the Rolle Canal over the River Torridge. Flowing 48 miles (76 km) through the heart of Devon, the River Torridge forms a loop as it meanders from Meddon to the Bristol Channel. The river is known for its bridges and aqueducts. It was also made famous by Henry William's book 'Tarka the Otter', who called the river his home. Today, the river is home to many species of wildlife and fish, such as salmon, sea trout and brown trout.

Covering 180 miles (290 km) through Devon, the Tarka Trail is one of the longest traffic-free bike paths in the UK. There's a lot more to it than just this section. The route leads through stunning and diverse scenery, from white beaches to green countryside and impressive sea cliffs. Spanning 677 feet (206 m), the Bideford Bridge is an important medieval bridge spanning the River Torridge in Bideford. Built around 1280, the bridge has slowly been turned into a stone bridge. It has been a focal point of life in Bideford over the centuries. On New Year's Eve, locals run across the bridge when church bells strike midnight.

Bideford Railway Heritage Centre manages the Bideford station site and Instow signal box, both of which are on the former railway line from Barnstaple to Bideford in north Devon. The old railway line is now part of the popular Tarka Trail and follows the South West Coast Path.
