Very nice view

The St. Sylvester Chapel, south of Goldbach, a district of Überlingen on Lake Constance in the Bodenseekreis district of Baden-Württemberg, is a small pre-Romanesque church on the shore of Lake Constance west of the town. It belongs to the Überlingen pastoral unit in the Linzgau deanery of the Archdiocese of Freiburg. Its wall paintings from the Carolingian period, dating from the mid-9th century and considered the oldest in the Lake Constance region, as well as an Ottonian picture cycle with scenes from the life of Jesus Christ from the early 10th century are significant. The frescoes are related to those in St. George's Church (Reichenau-Oberzell), although less well preserved, and were painted by painters from Reichenau Abbey.

St. Nicholas Minster in Überlingen is the largest Gothic church on Lake Constance. First documented in 773, Überlingen was granted the status of an imperial city, a city subject only to the king, in 1268. Construction of the church began in 1350, along with the high tower, visible from afar, which was completed in 1574/76. The many altars, arranged in small chapels around the semicircular choir, reflect the pride and wealth of the citizens who donated them. The cathedral's main work is the high altar, with its many figures, some of them life-size, made of light linden wood, created between 1613 and 1616. Also impressive is the enormous fresco by Jacob Carl Stauder (1694–1756) on the wall above the choir arch, dating from 1722 and depicting the Last Judgment.

The old town of Überlingen is worth a stroll. The view over the city from the museum garden is particularly worthwhile.
