The highest point on the south coast of England. quite the lung opener and leg burner to reach. well worth it with the views though. Just be careful near the cliff edge. Constantly eroding away.

9월 6, 2024, Golden Cap Summit
This famous landmark rises to 191m or 627 feet, making it the highest point on the south coast of England. The climb to the top is a challenge, but the reward is worth it. Waiting to greet you on the tranquil summit are panoramic views in all directions, from Portland to the east to Dartmoor in the west. Golden Cap is flanked by meadows, streams and woodland, all part of a National Trust estate that is well worth exploring. For those who want to experience every single metre of the climb, you can start at sea level at Seatown and follow the path all the way up. The Anchor Inn at Seatown is the perfect place to refuel, with delicious food and local ale.

10월 6, 2023, Pilsdon Pen Summit and Trig Point
The summit of this hill represents the second highest point in Dorset, and from here, you'll have breathtaking panoramic views. At the top, there was an Iron Age hillfort, which was excavated in the mid-20th century.

9월 14, 2022, Golden Cap Summit
The highest point on the south coast of England, Golden Cap is named for its distinctive greensand summit, which looks gold from a distance. Great views from the top stretch along the undulating Jurassic Coast and Dorset countryside, and out to sea. At 627 feet (191 m) above sea level, it's a short but fairly challenging climb to the summit that gets slippery in wet weather.

When you get to the concrete trig point walk onwards to the larger viewing area (a bit further on) which is more suitable for picnics etc.

1월 5, 2021, Coney's Castle Hillfort and Bluebell Woods
This Iron Age hillfort is the smaller cousin of Lambert’s Castle, a little to the north. With ancient woodland and a fantastic spring bluebell display, Coney’s Castle is a peaceful little summit and one of numerous such hillforts in the area. Check out the earthwork ramparts on the north, south and east sides. The western edge used the natural slope of the hill as a defense. Managed by the National Trust, this hillfort is free to roam around and served by a car park. Its only downside is that there’s a road right through the middle of it.

1월 5, 2021, Lambert's Castle Hillfort
Around 2,500-years-old, this Iron Age hillfort sits at the north end of the appropriately-named Lambert’s Castle Hill. You’ll find evidence of earthworks here and lovely views of the surrounding landscapes, particularly if you explore the entire hill. There’s a trig point to the south of the hillfort, at 840 feet (256 m). Lambert’s Castle is managed by the National Trust and is free to enter. There’s a car park to the south west and the Liberty Trail hiking path runs right through the middle of the fort.

2월 28, 2020, Pilsdon Pen Summit and Trig Point
Pilsdon Pen affords fine views over the rolling Dorset countryside. In clear conditions, you can see Golden Cap, Marshwood Vale, and the ocean to the south, Exmoor and the Quantocks to the west, the Hardy Monument to the east, and the Polesden and Mendip hills to the north. Atop the hill is an Iron Age fort and archaeologists have found flint tools here that date back 10,000 years. The hill is in the care of the National Trust.
