A beautiful route with plenty of climbing, which means you need to be well-trained. But this one is recommended for mountain bikers who enjoy a challenge.

Montaña La Arena is one of the most classic and highly rated mountain biking areas in southern Tenerife, especially if you like combining good road surfaces, flowing stretches, and pine forest landscapes with a volcanic essence.

Take advantage of getting off your bike to appreciate these incredible views of the local pine forest, as well as the Topo Negro ravine and the sea as a backdrop on clear days.

The large Chio cave is hidden in the volcanic landscape, between ancient lava flows and an open pine forest, a short distance from the El Canal trail. It can be an ideal short detour to pause and explore on foot for a few minutes.

Mar-2025 Part of the hiking trails to Realejo Alto were closed due to forest fire damage. It was impossible to get through. Unfortunately, there was no information at the start of the tour in Realejo Alto either.

Trail goes over multiple No Bike zones. At the end there is a bit where you have to carry your bike over lava rocks. Nice views and mostly a good ride. But the way described is not allowed to ride this way and there are not many options to reroute…

Since the last forest fire in this part there’s a high risk of falling rocks. Some parts were unrideable with gravel bike (45mm tires) because of the large amount of rocks on the road.
