The "Waldenserstein" (Waldensian Stone) is Neuhengstett's landmark, offering a beautiful view of Neuhengstett and the Northern Black Forest. It was erected on May 3, 1881, to commemorate the Waldensian families who immigrated there at that time, and a plaque bears their names. Next to the stone are several seating areas for a short rest or simply enjoying the view.

Anyone looking for a cool refreshment to quench their thirst is in the wrong place. The fountain is more like a small puddle that you can't drink from. The history is interesting, though: disputes broke out over the water source between the Neuhengstetters, Althengstetters and the residents of the Ottenbronner Hof, who claimed the fountain as a watering hole for their cattle. To settle the dispute, the Duke had a boundary stone moved to the middle so that everyone involved could lead their herds of cattle to the watering hole without stepping on another property. On hot days, the shady spot is convenient and I like the mini root trail to the fountain.

Many different trees have been planted here, each of which has been awarded the “Tree of the Year” award. Detailed explanatory panels provide further information - but are more interesting for hikers. A highlight for runners, however, is the wonderfully soft “Finnish track” made of mulch

There are information boards in the car park in front of the Trollinger restaurant. There are also grave mounds from the Celtic period marked on them. And from there the Finnish track begins, which makes the forest floor particularly soft for joggers.

This is a historic well where the Waldensians were allowed to water their animals. The well is also idyllically and romantically hidden in the forest.
