We travelled approximately 1.5 miles along the Grand Union Canal (Lengt 137 miles from the Thames to Birmingham) starting from The Three Locks to the east. After a loop we returned and travelled another 0.8 miles coming from the west to The Three Locks for a pleasant walk, we also met cyclists and runners. Many boats moored, one more interesting than the other. Recommended for a light walk, run or just a dog walk.

The first church building is believed to have been constructed in the 12th century. However, the current structure, with its distinctive architectural features, dates back to the 15th century. This period saw significant renovations and additions, shaping the church into its present form. Over the centuries, St. Mary's Church has witnessed the ebb and flow of life in Linslade. The village, once a bustling market town, experienced a shift in its center of gravity as the canal and railway revolutions drew people towards the modern town. In 1868, the church's bells were transferred to the newly built St. Barnabas Church in Linslade, reflecting the changing demographics of the area.

You can cross the River Ouzel here on a wooden bridge by cycle or rest as the Picnic Bench and if you are very lucy see a Kingfisher

This part of Grovebury Road is a one way buses only link. As of 2023 as two-way cycleway has been provided to unable you to travel both ways by foot or cycle

A picturesque scene along the Grand Union Canal of three locks stacked behind one another. This is a great place to stop and admire the view, you may even be lucky enough to catch a canal boat passing through. There is also a great pub along the path, The Three Locks, which is serving up daily doses of delicious food and drink.

Part of the Greensand Ridge Walk you cross the floodplain with views of fields, woods and farms. Its a lovely walk but the floodplain part can be wet enough to go over shoes in the winter. Its a delight in dry summer weather or when frozen in winter

Often busy with children feeding ducks, walkers enjoying the canalscape or moored boats heading to Tesco Supermarket or the town. If you want a quicker route take Vimy Road or one of the cycle paths ether side of the River Ouzel

This scenic section with a lock segment is popular with walkers and cyclists heading from Leighton Buzzard Town to the Globe Inn. Twelve Arches Weir (originally built with 12 arches, later expanded to 15) discharges overflow water from the Grand Union into the River Ouzel - quite an impressive sight after heavy rain.

This segment of the canal is quite rural in character despite being close to Linslade/Leighton Buzzard. You will often see Heron's waiting patiently and if you approach quietly you stand a good chance of getting close.

Tarmacked cycle path and footpath that crosses the Grand Union Canal via a repurposed railway bridge. Also with access to the cycle friendly Grand Union Tow path.

Peaceful, road traffic free, great wildlife = perfect cycling 👍

From this point on the Grand Union Canal you can take the linking cycle path to the River Ouzel Cycle Trail (https://www.komoot.com/highlight/2852096) or follow the Grand Union Canal. Both are well surfaced and suitable for walking or cycling. From the linking Cycle Path you can view Twelve Arches Weir (originally built with 12 arches, later expanded to 15) which discharges overflow water from the Grand Union into the River Ouzel - Quite an impressive sight after recent heavy rain

Views over the River Ouzel. This is useful path linking the "Green Bridge" over the canal from Tiddenfoot Waterside Park to South Meadow next to Grovebury Road.

Tiddenfoot Lake is popular with locals with footpaths and cycle paths leading to and around the lake. Good spot to bring your dog for a walk of link up with the grand union cancel close by for a longer walk

Popular with walkers and cyclists and well as Canal Boats during the season. Sit outside in summer or hunker down next to the fire in winter. I have enjoyed food, beer or a coffee and cake depending on my mood and the temperature outside. Dogs welcome in the bar area

There's a Holy Well just a few hundred yards north of this church. The well's waters are known for their miraculous healing powers, so get down there if your legs need a quick pick-me-up!

A nice pub near Stoke Hammond and Soulbury that sits next the canal. Great food and very friendly staff. Lots of outside seating available and a bike rack out the front. From here you can take the towpath north to Milton Keynes or south to Leighton Buzzard
