The plague crosses that stand at all four town exits (Engen, Hattingen, Tuttlingen and Liptingen) are an extremely popular photo motif. They are reminiscent of the times of the great plague in the 17th century during the Thirty Years' War, when more than half of the inhabitants died from this disease in just a few years.

On nice winter days (especially weekends) there is a lot going on due to the nearby ski lift. Then you have to be there early or look for another destination!
