A pleasant walk along the Watermill canal. It's nice to see lots of people with their dogs.

For the best light condition I would suggest to get here from 12 pm to the rest of the day. The path is not too hard but tent to decline on one side facing the valley.

10월 30, 2023, Deacon Hill Summit
Deacon Hill (172m), from which there are stunning views in essentially any direction (as long as you don't stare at your boots) is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (the summit area is rich in plant species, and there are birds here such as buzzards and numerous species of butterflies, too). There is a bench to sit on as well. The hill is a gorgeous place to be and marvel at the beauty of the world.

10월 30, 2023, Lodgefield Plantation Path
A beautiful woodland and rows of trees, pretty wide-open fields and grassland and gorgeous views of miles and miles of the countryside from here. Life is good.

Coming out of the woods on the Chiltern Way here will provide you with an absolutely stunning view of the countryside down below and, right next to you, of the Knocking Hoe National Nature Reserve. This is chalk grassland, supporting rare plants such as moon carrot and field fleawort. There is a viewing platform nearby with some information about the reserve too.

1월 20, 2023, Oughtonhead Common Local Nature Reserve
The River Oughton flows next to Oughtonhead Common and the footpath between the two makes for a lovely place to run. You will also find a number of trails across the common. There are a variety of habitats on the common which is a nature reserve managed by Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust. Keep and eye out for woodcock and kingfishers.

5월 28, 2022, View of Knocking Hoe
As you traverse the wilds of Barton hills, listen carefully for the sound of fresh water, bubbling from the spring at the foot of the hills. A remarkable thing to behold. We've not tried drinking it yet, but let us know if you're brave enough!

10월 15, 2020, Pegsdon Hills Viewpoint
This area of the Bedfordshire Hertfordshire border is excellent walking country. You will find areas of SSI and history from pre bronze age. There are Hill Forts, Round and Long Barrows, Terracing and Earthworks. Nummerous lime pits on the chalk up lands which were used for lime both for building and farming. Evidence of roman occupation and local resistance. The area is crossed by the Icknield Way probably the oldest route in the UK Check my website for many other walks and details of walking in this area of the Chilterns https://imcintosh.com/walking-north-herts-and-south-beds

6월 16, 2020, Wrest Park Woodland and Gravel Path
A nice, long, twisty path with some light technical sections that are OK for beginners on CX, gravel and MTB bikes. It's a covered way through the trees, can get a bit muddy in the winter but very rarely it becomes impossible to pass here. The section opens up onto a long gravel path that takes you all the way to Wrest Park house and the tarmac driveway. It's a great path, usually quiet, with good views across to the wooded section or put your head down and feel the burn.
