This impressively large wooden fountain stands in the village center of Valendas. It has served as a watering hole since 1760 and has been a listed building since 1981. It is considered one of the largest wooden fountains in Europe. The fountain is renovated and re-wooden every 30 to 40 years. A QR code for Clà Ferrovia can be found at an information point nearby.

Village fountain, Castrisch The larger part of the village fountain always served as a drinking source for the cattle, while the smaller area was used for washing purposes. Each fountain had its own fountain master, who was responsible for its maintenance and smooth operation. It was their job to water the cattle at the same time in the morning and evening. Washing was only allowed in the small section; anyone who did it in the large section had to pay a fine. The fountains played a crucial role, and it was only in the 1970s that self-watering facilities were introduced in the stables.
