Established in 1995 Size: 35.99 hectares Protected area number: 3,207 Langenbach and Trubelsbach are two near-natural mountain streams that originate between Notschrei and Trubelsmattkopf and flow together at the Muggenbrunn campsite. The valleys of the streams have been designated as nature reserves due to their unique flora and fauna. They are part of the European "Natura 2000" network for the conservation of biodiversity and the preservation of Europe's natural heritage. The nature reserve consists of two sections, forming a diverse mosaic of raised bogs, transitional moors, fens, wet meadows, natterjack grasslands, and other biotopes. The area also features nutrient-poor grasslands, pastures, and near-natural forests. The bogs, which were used for peat cutting just a few decades ago, are of particular scientific importance due to their specific characteristics. I'm from Todtnau high and to be honest I don't have any special memories of it, it cranked up quite evenly at an average of 6% and then straight on to look at the country from above. From a sporting point of view, the approach from Kirchzarten would certainly be a lot more demanding.
