It does get busy around the visitors' centre and the Gruffalo trail. However, if you ride up Pale Hill and follow the perimeter of the forest, there are plenty of quiet trails to explore. Keep your eyes peeled for single tracks going through the forest, there lots of off-the-beaten-path routes to follow if you look for them.

Just to confirm what Ian said above - don't get caught out! Same friendly service, just a new location. Very satisfied with a recent comprehensive service (approaching a refurbishment!) of my gravel bike. Runs like new again.

Blakemere Moss at Delamere Forest is a reclaimed wetland area. The Moss was originally formed from two kettle holes (water filled hollows formed by a detached mass of glacial ice melted in situ towards the end of the last ice age). Delamere Forest is made up of more than 100 peatland basins and includes several sites of rare 'quaking' bogland, a phenomenon in which sphagnum mosses form a carpet above peaty water that appears to tremble when trodden on. The area was drained from the 1800's, supposedly by prisoners from the Napoleonic Wars and planted with trees, (mainly oak and Scot's Pine) between 1793-1815 to provide timber for shipbuilding. The Forestry Commission planted the moss with pine and western hemlock during the 1940s, which proved uneconomic. In the late 1990's the Commission allowed the area to re-flood again naturally.

My local Bike and Coffee shop. Excellent on all counts. For me the cherry Bakewell is the winning cake. Proper organic single origin coffee. I have bought 2 bikes from Chris & Mike and upgraded/serviced the whole family's bikes here too.

10월 21, 2020, Anderton Boat Lift
The Anderton Boat Lift is a tremendous feat of engineering that provides a 50 foot (15.2 m) vertical link between the River Weaver and the Trent and Mersey Canal. The structure was built in 1875 and was used for more than 100 years until it was closed in 1983 due to corrosion. Restoration started in 2001 and the lift reopened in 2002. The structure is designated as a scheduled monument.

Blakemere Moss is a flooded area of Delamere Forest. The lake is rich in biodiversity and is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It is a great place for birdwatching and is home to species such as greylags, Canada geese, black-headed gulls, coots, mallards, and lapwings. The area was drained in the 1800s, supposedly by prisoners from the Napoleonic Wars, and planted with trees. It was turned back into a lake in the 1990s and tree stumps still poke through the water’s surface.

Worth the little detour off the main paths - been coming to Delamere for many years walking and running before spotting this little "lake" as a highlight on the Komoot map.

*update- The roadworks are now finished & several more Blue rated trails have been installed - Follow the Grey Arrow sign posts & the link* Delamere is a very popular spot which currently undergoing extensive redevelopment with introduction of luxury chalets presently under construction along with a very modern new visitor centre & further parking. New multi use paths & access roads are also being constructed to provide easier access for everyone. This has now been completed. As for cycling, there are a couple of Blue rated wide 'crush & run' limestone chip affairs, ideal for families, could be boring for hard hitting off-road enthusiast but fear not there a a myriad of unofficial trails littered throughout the forest plus there's also an official 'Skills' area near the Manley area of the Forest, also easily accessed from 'Foxes Howell' on Ashton Rd.

Covering an area of 972 hectares (2,410 acres), Delamere Forest is Cheshire's largest area of woodland. The peaceful forest has many trails that showcase the wonderful nature and diverse wildlife. Delamere means 'forest of the lakes' – there are lots of small lakes dotted amongst the trees. The forest was established in the 11th century as a hunting forest. In 1924, it was given to the Forestry Commission. You can enjoy the park from 9am - 7pm daily. More information can be found here: https://www.forestryengland.uk/delamere-forest
