The shimmering waters of Lough Melvin attract anglers from around the world for its beauty and diverse fish. The lake is home to three unique species of trout, as well as salmon, and an endemic species of char, the Melvin charr. If you want to try your hand at fishing, you should purchase a license and consider renting a boat. The lake is 7.5 miles (12 km) long and 1.9 miles (3 km) wide and set amongst the beautiful green countryside along the border of County Leitrim and Country Fermanagh. Another stone with a lot of history is the large slab standing west of the bishops stone, one side of the stone bears at least twelve cup-shaped hollows, see image above right, which suggest this maybe a multiple bullaun stone/cup marked stone that has been reused as an early Christian cross slab, as on the obverse face is a Greek cross in a circle with a bifurcated stem. Situated south of the bullaun stone is a holed stone, as the image shows this stone is half embedded in the ground. Immediately to the West of the holed stone is a broken 1.2 metre high stone pillar. From this vantage point as the terrain starts to rise up to Tullybrack Hill, you can see all the way across the Sillees River, Ross Lough and Carran Lough. Your eyes are also drawn to th lush green farmland and woodlands stretching out below.

The castle was founded in the 15th century by Hugh 'The Hospitable' Maguire and belonged to the Maguire family for centuries. Between 2007 and 2013 a massive refurbishment took place so that the castle could be opened to the public. Today you can explore the castle grounds and learn about this landmarks rich history.

Boa Island is the largest island on Lough Erne. The road cuts through its centre with views of Lusty Beg, Lusty More and Cruninish Islands.

Portora Castle was built in 1612 for Sir William Cole. The original castle was comprised of a three storey house with a defensive bawn and four circular towers. Whilst only the remains stand today, you can still imagine what this castle looked like in its prime.

Old Castle Archdale is situated on Castle Hill within a 520 hectare coniferous and mixed broadleaved forest. The castle was built in the 1600s and was the main castle on this former estate before its successor took it's place in the 1800s, Castle Archdale.

Built in the 17th century, Castle Caldwell was part of the Ulster Plantation, a province of Ireland colonised by British settles throughout King James I era. The castle had a number of inhabitants after that and fell into ruin towards the 1800s. Although access to the castle is now forbidden due to its dangerous state of repair, the surrounding park and forest can be explored freely. Keep your eyes peeled for the ruined chapel and overgrown graveyard.

Clodagh Glen has a steep sided gorge that is lined by ancient ash trees that cling to the steep sides. The water sculpted river valley has a spectacular arch over the river which formed when the cave roof collapsed. The reserve is known for its limestone gorge, mystical caves and beautiful waterfalls. In the springtime the valley floor is carpeted by bluebells, wood anemones and wild garlic and in the summer silver-washed fritillaries are found besides the path. With a keen eye you may also spot an elusive pint martin and red squirrels!

Florence Court is a Georgian mansion nestled in the foothills of Cuilcagh Mountain and surrounded by picturesque countryside. The first house was built by John Cole in the early 18th century and named after his wife. The family lived in the house for over 250 years. The estate is now managed by the National Trust with over 10 miles of hiking and cycling trails. There is a also a water-powered sawmill and blacksmith's forge to gain an understanding of the areas industrial heritage. There is an Irish yew tree in the grounds, known as Florence Court Yew. This specimen is thought to be the ancestor of all Irish Yews worldwide as they have to be propagated from a cutting otherwise they revert to common yews. Due to their compactness and attractive columnar shape they are common in churchyards throughout the world.

Drumskinny Stone Circle is one of five in the area. It dates back to 2000BC and is thought to have been used for religious ceremonies, calendar functions or astronomical observations. There are 39 stones that make up the circle which are all placed around a small cairn.
