Any climb is generally worth it for the views at the top, this is in the top few for a far reaching vista.

Climb out of Vernham Dean around 7.5% with steep bits in first third and short final push to the top. Half way up, kites can be seen soaring at eye level and calling over the adjacent valley.

This is a monster climb especially if you’re getting on a bit like me. But it is worth the effort and has a great decent the other side

Views views views! Worth the little push to get up there but you will be rewarded by the solitude and sights along the ridge.

Rough surface makes the gradient feel harder than it needs to be. Views from the top well worth the effort.

A long sustained false flat and gradual climb heading North out of Vernham Dean

The local 100 Climbs climb is steep and straight - a fairly short climb but plenty hard enough and a slog to the top.

Looked after by English Heritage but free to enter, Ludgershall Castle probably began construction in the late 11th century and was improved in the 13th century by King John and his son Henry III, when it was used as a hunting lodge. Today, the atmospheric ruins comprise three large walls and extensive earthworks. Also worth seeing is the 14th-century cross nearby in the centre of Ludgershall village.
