The Golden Retriever is a charming country pub located on Nine Mile Ride in Bracknell, near Swinley Forest. It's known for its rustic character, cozy atmosphere, and being dog-friendly, making it a popular spot for both locals and those out for a walk with their furry companions. Historically, the building is believed to have been a forester's cottage dating back to 1841, later developed into dog kennels, which is how it got its distinctive name. The pub, part of the Vintage Inns group, offers a menu of hearty pub classics and seasonal dishes, along with a selection of cask ales, fine wines, and British gins. It has both beautiful gardens for sunny days and crackling log fires for a warm indoor welcome. It's a popular choice for various occasions, from casual drinks to Sunday roasts and family gatherings, and has recently undergone a major transformation to refresh its interior and exterior while retaining its traditional charm.

While walking along the path around the lake, you can observe a wide variety of birds, including swans and ducks, among others. This lake is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and is home to several rare plants due to its low pH levels. In fact, it's the only acid lake in the county. Depending on the weather, it can become muddy.

This lake is the only acid lake in Berkshire. Due to its naturally high pH level, it harbors some very uncommon plants, such as the water milfoil or the six-stemmed water crowfoot. This has earned it the designation of SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest). Next to the reserve where this lake is located, there is a small, free parking area. Several trails and routes, like the Ramblers Route, pass by the lake.

This hall was built by the Palmer family for the local workers and community as a tribute to those who fell in World War I. There is a memorial window placed in the entrance in memory of all those who served and perished during the First World War.
