The Changing of the Guard begins with the Windsor Castle guards lining up outside the Guard Room. The Windsor Castle guard is normally provided by one of the five regiments of the Foot Guards of the Household Division, dressed in their uniforms of red tunics and bearskins. At the appropriate time, the new guard will arrive, led by a regimental band, a drum corps, or occasionally a pipe band. During the 45-minute ceremony, the handover of duties takes place, including the changing of sentries. Following the ceremony, the Old Guard will return to Victoria Barracks, Windsor. When the King is at his official residence, the parade takes place in the castle square near the entrance to the State Rooms.
