Unfortunately, you can no longer get to the Bergerie, because a bridge collapsed in 2024. You will be taken by bus from 2 May 6 to 6 km before the Bergerie. Cars must park 10 km below the Bergerie

Genoese towers are the round towers that are spread out along the coast of Corsica and were built by the Genoese from the middle of the 16th century to protect themselves from North African Muslim pirates. They complemented a series of square towers previously built by the Pisans, but they also built this shape (e.g. Tour de Nonza).

This hike in southern Corsica, between the Gulf of Ajaccio and the Gulf of Valinco, is part of the Conservatoire du Littoral (Coastal Conservatory). It is a beautiful hike from the hamlet of Cascionu that takes you to the Capu di Muru peninsula. The path goes through the scrubland to the Genoese tower of Capu di Muru. From this summit, there is a magnificent panoramic view of the Bay of Cacalu and the Gulf of Ajaccio. The path continues to the small chapel of a Madonuccia. Capu di Muru offers a magnificent view with its lighthouse. The return path along the coast offers a view of the Cala d'Orzu.

The Tower of Capu di Muru (Corsican: torra di Capu di Muru, pronounced [ˈtɔrra di ˈkapu di ˈmuru]; French: Tour de Capu di Muru) is a Genoese tower in the commune of Coti-Chiavari on the west coast of Corsica. The tower is located at a height of 100 metres on the Capu di Muru headland.
