The Fuschler Ache drains the Fuschlsee and flows in a large curve, first westwards for a surprisingly long time to the Russenstraße, then northwards and finally eastwards around the ridge between Fuschlsee and Thalgau and then flows into the Mondsee. In a beautiful hike, you can follow the course of the Ache to where it flows into the Mondsee. That's about 25 km. I did the hike in two stages, the first to Thalgau (about 13 km), the second from Thalgau to Mondsee (about 12 km), plus about 6 km to the next bus. In any case, it is surprising that you can get from Fuschlsee to Mondsee without any incline.

The castle is located in the village of Vorderelsenwang in the municipality of Hof near Salzburg in the Salzburg area. The historic, four-story castle tower is located at the western end of the Fuschlsee on a peninsula. The tower can be seen in the distance from the village of Fuschl am See opposite. There are forests and an impressive mountain landscape in the surrounding area.
