Great viewing area to watch the Cormorants and Great Crested Grebes.

Caught this Heron standing fishing in the middle of Washout Pit.

Here the Heron Trail follows the Ouse Valley Way.

Off the main track to the left you take a narrow wooden walkway out to the hide which has great views over Heronry South Lake as well as Heronry North Lake.

This area of rough grassland interspersed with Hawthorn and Dog Rose bushes provides ideal feeding and nesting areas for Nightingales. Between the end of April and the beginning of June male Nightingales sing to attract a mate.

Haydon Hive overlooks the southern end of Heronry South Lake. From here you can se the Cormorants roosting in the trees on the opposite bank.

Built in 1963, Buckden Marina is a picturesque spot between the villages of Buckden and Offord Cluny. There's room for 250 boats, as well as waterside chalets on stilts, some of which offer accommodation. There's a cafe by the water, or alternatively you could walk to the Horseshoe Inn, which serves good food in the nearby village of Offord Cluny.
