Very nice walking area between Nussbach and Wartberg. After a major flood, this area was redesigned and is now a nice area for walkers, cyclists, etc.

On the school trip from Kirchdorf, the 2nd class comes to the Oberndorf houses and the surprising view opens up over the foothills of the Alps to Linz and Mühlviertel. A student stands there with his mouth open and stammers: there - there - there is the other world!

The Calvary Chapel was built in 1833-1834, and in 1835 the monastery administrator Alan Burkhard was able to consecrate it. The door frame bears the initials of Stephan Kroiss and Theresia Kroiss (18 ST K-T K 34), who initiated the construction. In 1867 a Way of the Cross with wooden crosses and tin paintings was added. The chapel was covered with new Eternit panels in 1907. In 1934 the wooden crosses were replaced by granite crosses. In 1981 and 1990 the chapel and Way of the Cross were restored. A pilgrimage to Altpernstein, which has been held annually since 1868 on the occasion of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, traditionally begins at the Calvary Chapel.

It all began in 1924, when what is now the largest monastery cheese dairy in Europe was founded by Brother Leonhard on St. James' Day, July 25th. Specializing in the production of soft and semi-hard cheese, Klosterkäserei Schlierbach is now the market leader in the segment of soft cheese with red culture. Hearty organic cheese specialties have been produced since 1999. In 2008, the cheese masters started making cheese specialties from sheep's and goat's milk. The organic range of the Schlierbach monastery cheese dairy has been expanded, creating a new focus for the range. With the conversion to a purely organic operation in 2012, customers are guaranteed access to regional food of the highest quality in the future. Before accessing Schlierbach Abbey, follow a few steps of the Käsemaus - look for the next but one sign in the series "On the trail of cheese", right next to the tanks. If a truck comes towards you here, that is quite normal, because this is where the milk is delivered!

The collegiate church, built from 1680 to 1682, adorned with frescoes and lavish stucco decoration, is a special masterpiece by the Italian artist family Carlone, but also by many other - equally local - artists who created a baroque total work of art here in the 17th century. The church is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary - especially the Assumption of Mary - and St. dedicated to James. Architecture, stucco and painting resonate in a unique way. The warm and rather dark colors of brown, black and gold predominate on the walls and the altar furnishings - in contrast, the vault above shines in bright white, interspersed with the strong colors of the frescoes. The church is the center of the Cistercian monastery. We also highly recommend a visit to: Library - cruciform state room with hanging domes built in baroque style Bernardi Hall - state hall with rich stucco decorations on the ceiling and walls, frescoes and pictures

Abbot Alois Wiesinger founded the "Herz-Jesu-Kolleg" in 1925. 7 boarding students started the first school year. The grammar school of Schlierbach Abbey is a Catholic private school. The school provider is the Stiftsgymnasium Schlierbach school association. The manageable size of the school (approx. 500 pupils, approx. 50 teachers) enables personal care and a family atmosphere. Special interests and abilities can therefore be promoted in a targeted manner. Alternative languages in lower and upper school: From the 3rd grade, there is an alternative choice of Latin or French, in the 5th grade there is still the alternative between French and Italian. Other possible foreign languages in the upper school are Spanish and Russian. Elective subjects - all 4 blocks can be taken orally: 1. Italian as a 3rd living foreign language 2. Human ethics and social studies 3. Informatics and natural sciences 4. Art and creative workshop

The Panorama Café is located in the Meierhof, above the education center and the glass workshops. Concentration instead of excess, clarity instead of excess - that's the secret of true enjoyment. You can already see this philosophy in the architecture of the panorama café. A transparent building with a sun terrace, where you can feel what is important: a wide view, the beautiful landscape, nature and the products that are produced here. Here you can buy the excellent Schlierbach organic cheese, glass products from the glass workshop, selected culinary delicacies and other products from the monastery shop. Or you can simply enjoy a good coffee and a regionally produced pastry with the wonderful panoramic view of the upper Kremstal.
