Later, from 1914 to 1923, the tenants were Harold Watkins and his wife. It has also been reported that a pine marten had been seen on the kitchen window sill in the 1950's.

Down Tor Stone Row, also known as Hingston Hill Stone Row, is considered one of the most remarkable on Dartmoor. While Stall Moor Stone Row is the longest and Stalldown Stone Row boasts the tallest stones, Down Tor stands out for its striking presence.

The cist stones of Dartmoor are ancient burial structures dating back to the Bronze Age. Scattered across the moorland, these stone-lined tombs were used for cremation burials, often covered by a cairn. They offer a glimpse into the region's prehistoric past and are a key feature of Dartmoor’s archaeological landscape.

Burrator Reservoir is a stunning reservoir in Dartmoor. It sits on the southern side, as it was built to supply water to the people of Plymouth. Here there is a lovely little unnamed water fall coming into the reservoir off the thick wooded western hillside. There is also a little bench seat here. A great break spot if you're doing a lakeside trail.

This is a place to explore for sure. Wild camping allowed as long you respect the rules.

If it rained during the night, it's important to wear shoes, sometimes it's muddy.
