The isolated location high above the Inn and Paznaun valleys, on the north-eastern spur of the Samnaun group, makes this mountain an excellent vantage point: the Ötztal Alps form the eastern backdrop with such striking mountains as the peaks of the Rofelewand or Watzespitze and the firn peaks of the Weißkugel and Wildspitze . In the southeast, beyond the Reschen Pass, the triumvirate of Königspitze, Ortler and Monte Zebrú towers into the South Tyrolean sky and the Cevedale also shows its glistening snowy flanks. The Sesvenna Group can hardly be made out in the huge sea of peaks, but a little further to the right, the unmistakable mountain shapes of Piz Palü and Piz Bernina (the only 4000m peak in the Eastern Alps) can be clearly seen far behind over the Upper Engadine.
