This is one of England's tallest remaining maypoles. It is a striped pole that stands over 20 metres high. It has been present since the days of Shakespeare, and its original incarnation was made of wood (until it was struck by lightning and destroyed). The current pole is made of aluminium and is officially a Grade II historical monument listed by English Heritage.

NCN 442, which goes from Long Hanborough to Worcester and NCN 41, which goes from Rugby to the centre of Bristol, intercept here and go along Badsey bridleway to Evesham.

Has a statue of Shakespeare on it if your looking for them

Beautiful and well preserved half-timbered building, you will not find many in similar style and quality around. Even if you do not enter the museum it is worth a detour to have a view.

The Hall was built in the reign of Charles I and throughout its chequered history has seen calamitous events including being extensively damaged from a gunpowder explosion in 1643. Just over a century later the Hall was actually pulled down but re-built the following year. In 1863 major alterations resulted in a Hall very much as you see it today. Ill fate dogged it again in 1946 when fire, started from a cigarette, completely gutted the beautifully proportioned Ballroom, when a valuable painting by Gainsborough of David Garrick was destroyed. The Town Hall houses many interesting and historic paintings and treasures and it is unsurprising that today smoking is definitely not permitted. Nice little cafe with yummy cakes. Attached to an antique store that is also worth a look, if you have time.

Good cafe stop with nice coffee and good selection of cakes. Also a good lunch option on a long ride.

A prime tourist spot lots of people taking wedding photos outside

One of three ways to climb over Ebrington/Windmill Hill. Steep at the start, but leveling off to mid single digit gradients after a few hundred meters. Good road surface. Very quiet. Some lovely views towards Chipping Campden and Stratford respectively.
