A good wide gravel track for gravel/mountain bike, not really suitable for road bike. Great views.

Nice ride out to Redlake, but then using a map, gps and standing on top of the hill, unable to find the track to Avon dam. Really disappointing.

One of the best first views of Harford moor before reaching Harford Moor Gate up the road.

Vehicle access to the Harford Moor Gate car park has been closed as of February 2021 to control footfall on this area of the moor as the sward and soil cannot sustain heavy use by walkers, cyclists and riders. This closure also helps reduce traffic congestion in the lane through Harford.

Fast track, most of the time a bit windy

The car park is currently free (June 2024) and ideal for leaving a car and catching the train west of east, or starting a hike/cycle into the surrounding area

Ivybridge station is well-placed for exploring southern Dartmoor by bike or on foot. Direct services run from Penzance, London Paddington & Cardiff. There are two platforms, the closest of which is for trains running to Plymouth & beyond, whilst the one opposite is for trains running eastbound towards Exeter and beyond. No bike parking services, unfortunately, but most services have space for at least two bikes - best reserve before travel (if you can!).

Left Lake is a small lake on the right of the Two Moors Way trail from Ivybridge heading north to Red Lake. It's a great little pool with a peaty bottom, so the water is quite dark. It warms up well if you get a few days of sunshine, perfect for a quick dip on a long run on the south moor.

Also known as Siward's Cross, Nun's Cross is one of many granite stone crosses across Dartmoor. The cross sits at the junction of two major tracks; the Abbots’ Way and the Monks’ Path, which link abbeys at Buckfast with Tavistock and Buckland. The cross stands close to Nun's Cross Farm, which can be seen from the junction. Although the meaning behind its more common name is unknown, the word Siward is carved into the stone, which is thought to refer to the Saxon Earl Siward, who once was a landowner around Tavistock.

Gentle climb up to Princetown nice gravel all the way up gets a bit lumpy behind Kings Torr but all rideable.

Beautiful pub situated in the heart of Dartmoor, great food and they do the best pint of Jail ale

Nice gravel track with technical sections on the climb past the cross. watch out for the drainage trenches across the tracks.

The Avon Dam was built in 1957 to supply water to the coastal towns of South Devon. You can ride up the access road to the base of the dam but will have to leave your bike or push up to see the reservoir.
