Push over the little kicker coming from Ashton and put the hammer down to fly into Mickleton.

This is one of England's tallest remaining maypoles. It is a striped pole that stands over 20 metres high. It has been present since the days of Shakespeare, and its original incarnation was made of wood (until it was struck by lightning and destroyed). The current pole is made of aluminium and is officially a Grade II historical monument listed by English Heritage.

NCN 442, which goes from Long Hanborough to Worcester and NCN 41, which goes from Rugby to the centre of Bristol, intercept here and go along Badsey bridleway to Evesham.

Small hill with nice views of Cotswolds/Welford. The road surface is pretty bad in Welford direction but gets significantly better as approaches Long Marston.

Has a statue of Shakespeare on it if your looking for them

Beautiful and well preserved half-timbered building, you will not find many in similar style and quality around. Even if you do not enter the museum it is worth a detour to have a view.

The Hall was built in the reign of Charles I and throughout its chequered history has seen calamitous events including being extensively damaged from a gunpowder explosion in 1643. Just over a century later the Hall was actually pulled down but re-built the following year. In 1863 major alterations resulted in a Hall very much as you see it today. Ill fate dogged it again in 1946 when fire, started from a cigarette, completely gutted the beautifully proportioned Ballroom, when a valuable painting by Gainsborough of David Garrick was destroyed. The Town Hall houses many interesting and historic paintings and treasures and it is unsurprising that today smoking is definitely not permitted. Great spot to climb to on the road and the gravel track.

Very nice. Often stop here as it’s on my 30 miler round trip. Wonderful granola/flapjack full of cranberry, pumpkin seed etc. plus everything you expect in a good farm shop.

Nice spot overlooking the Ilmington village green. Good place to refuel before tackling the climbs out of Ilmington towards Chipping Campden.

Good for leisure cycling. Traffic free connection between Meon Vale and Stratford. From here plenty of routes into the Northern Cotswolds open up. Not so suitable for sports cyclists, due to the track surface and the mixed use.
