After two lookout towers on the Demmerkogel had already burned down, this magnificent lookout tower was opened in 2023, offering stunning views of the surrounding area and far into Slovenia. A drinks vending machine is located in a hut right next to the lookout tower. Drinking water dispensers and a restroom are located a few meters further down the access road, almost before the final steep section to the lookout tower.

At 23.8m it towers above the tallest trees and offers a wonderful panoramic view as far as Graz in the north or Riegersburg in the east

Great panoramic view, last part to the Demmelkogel lookout only on foot

The parish church of Kitzeck, picturesquely situated in the Styrian wine country, is dedicated to Saint Nicholas and is one of the highest churches in Styria. The baroque interior is particularly worth seeing.

The new observation tower has a platform height of 23.8 m, ensuring a panoramic view in all four directions. Furthermore, the combination of metal and wooden construction fits well into the existing landscape. Several nesting boxes for different species of birds have been integrated into the outer cladding, which can be cleaned from the inside if necessary. The overall project is a very good complement to the “The Great Adventure on the Demmerkogel” project that was started a few years ago - a family hiking trail with fun and games. The grand opening took place on Sunday, October 15, 2023.

Now it's being built. The driving ban for cycling is still in place. It also doesn't work anymore. You have to drive past the construction site in the forest on the right, then up to the left and then you come back to the downhill 😂👍

If you've made it this far, then you've made it. Kitzeck, no matter which side, is always steep and strenuous with the Bio Radl. But when you're at the top, it's beautiful.
