Beautiful beach, with a stream

Mill Bay is a beautiful sandy beach on the east side of the Salcombe Estuary. At low tide the beach stretches to East Portlemouth. This spot is popular with families, as there are nearby facilities.

Gara Rock on the coast path stands above Abraham's Cove. All of the coast here is wonderful walking with great views and beautiful trails.

Nice section of the South West Coast Path between Mill Bay and Limebury Point. Great views across the river to Salcombe and out towards Bolt Head.

Prawle Point is the southernmost point of Devon. There is a coastguard lookout point here with an interesting information board. The South West Coast Path passes here and the running is excellent in both directions.

NCI look out have a visitors room open most days.

Salcombe is cute, indeed, but frankly, also a bit posh. If you prefer more the nature and quietness, than better stay on this side of the estuary. Maybe you fancy a coffee with a view of Salcombe at Venus Cafe, just behind the steps down to the ferry quai?

Visitors‘ center is open at Prawle Point Seawatch Station.

Super nice sand beach here, great place to chill out. NT Parking 🅿️ (6 GBP /day) around the corner.

Venus Cafe - Perfect for a little rest, stunning views included. Refreshments and good coffee is sold between 9-17h every day. Nice staff, too!

The ferry (yepp, it’s the vessel on that picture) goes back and forth permanently between Salcombe and East Portlemouth Beach from ~8am to ~6:30 pm. Fare for adults is 2.30 pounds each (2023).

Running up to Snape's Point is worth it for the stunning views of Salcombe and the Kingsbridge Estuary.

The ferry takes foot passengers between Salcombe and East Portlemouth across the Kingsbridge Estuary. Despite being small in size, it does take bicycles (currently £1 each). Salcombe really is absurdly picturesque. To get a real feel for just how colourful is it, catch the ferry across to the eastern shore and admire the village from across the water. The beaches on the eastern shore are particularly lovely as well, and make a great excursion from Salcombe itself.
