In amongst the woods, you’re reasonably sheltered from the weather here, with just the noise of the river below. The paths are wide and generally good under foot.

The walk from Clifford Bridge to Fingle Bridge is about 2 1/2 miles. Walking from Clifford Bridge means you can time your walk to arrive at the Fingle Bridge Inn for lunch, coffee and cake or Dinner then return and burn off some of the calories you have injested.

The Hunter's Path is a high level trail, running from Hunter's Tor in the west, along an awesome airy trail below Castle Drogo and through Drewston Wood. The trail is well maintained by the National Trust, but does get steeper and sometimes slippery at the eastern end, above Fingle Bridge.

Fingle Bridge is a 17th-century stone bridge over the River Teign. It's a useful crossing point linking some of the enjoyable gravel riverside trails in the area. The riverside paths on both sides of the river make great running loops. The Fingle Bridge hotel is also a good pit stop, set in idyllic surroundings.

Castle Drogo is a 20th-century castle overlooking the Teign Valley. It's owned and managed by the National Trust and makes a great stop off or start point for a run in the area. If you decide to start here, it's paid parking for non-NT members. The café at the visitor centre serves a good selection of light meals, snacks and drinks, perfect to stock up before you go or refuel after your run.

Wide and hand packed under foot, this trail is great for a little flat running (you'll be grateful of this in Devon), good conditions all year round.

A gravel path meanders alongside the River Teign between Fingle Bridge and Clifford Bridge. It passes through numerous woodlands on this section of its journey between Dartmoor and Teignmouth. The track is great for those new to MTBing or families as its hard packed, easy rolling and traffic free.

Clifford Bridge lies right next to the River Teign and is at the cross roads of multiple road (some steep and some steeper) and gravel options (generally smooth and fast). There's also a lush little lodge site which could be a great option for a weekend get away.

Lush lush and more lush gravel. This section of gravel follows the River Teign from Steps Bridge finishing just before Clifford Bridge. You might pass the odd dog walker but otherwise it is quiet. The gravel/dirt is dreamy and generally really smooth.

Singletrack narrow off road path which sort of updulates with views of Dunsdord to the left. Mentally stimulating as you definitely need to watch your footing with a drop to the left.

Nice, mostly flat river side path along the Teign. The gravel gets chunky in some areas, but still manageable.
