From Radstadt to Untertauern you can drive quickly, from Untertauern onwards things really get going! It's better to leave very early because of the traffic...

Mautendorf is a picturesque little place with very beautiful painted houses, small streets, a few restaurants, a very good butcher and a baker with delicious cakes and coffee. Definitely worth a rest!

In summer (without snow) the path leads uphill via the Taurach. In winter, the path is virtually impassable, especially when there is new deep snow.
