The portrait is of Malcolm Wright, a lifelong Lowestoft resident and former sea worker. Gillian Allard first photographed him at a bus stop in Pakefield in March 2020, just before the COVID-19 lockdowns began. During lockdown, Allard began experimenting with a technique to bond photographic images onto concrete surfaces—a method suitable for outdoor, weather-resistant installations. This was a new direction for her, inspired by the limitations and opportunities of the pandemic.

Only opened this year and gives better access to the southern part of Yarmouth, avoiding the need to go all the way up to the old Haven Bridge.

Easy access for bikes with plenty of outdoor and undercover space. Does breakfasts, light lunches, coffee and cakes etc. Open 7 days a week until 4.30pm (3pm Sunday & Monday).

The dunes scenery is impressive in its scale, and the turbines are surprisingly close to shore.

Dominates the southern docks area in Yarmouth and visible all the way from the main promenade up by the beach.

A lifting bridge so sometimes you might have to wait to pass. Good views along Yarmouth's quayside.

There is a segregated cycle lane running alongside the main promenade road behind the beach but in the summer season it's also used by the local tourist 'train' as well as lots of pedestrians wandering into it. Ok if you're cruising slowly and don't mind dodging obstacles but otherwise stick to the proper road.

The best view down the full expanse of the huge sands is from the corner of Cliff Hill and Avondale Road at the northern end of the beach

Gorleston is just to the south of Great Yarmouth, but should not be overlooked in favour of its better known neighbour. Gorleston has a huge bay, riverside and a sandy beach stretching into the distance below cliff gardens and a promenade. TripAdvisor has named Gorleston as 8th in the Best Beaches in the UK.

Nice cycle path along the sea front. Watch out for wayward pedestrians!

If you want a Hill climb to train on Links Road is your boy. Situated at the very north end of the prom.

when headed to camps heath and you don't fancy riding to the bridge over the train line use the much closer underpass from Caldecott to Hall Road which is cycle friendly

Don't forget you can't cycle on the lower promenade and the council are currently handing out fixed penalties to those that are caught

Cycle path runs along the promenade down the full length of the beach between South Pier and Kensington Road, with great sea views as it as gradually ascends the cliff at the southern end.

Beautiful view of the lake, which separates Norfolk and Suffolk.
